In the 6th book of this excellent series, Mo (short for Moses) Prager is getting long in the tooth. Now 60, he is twice divorced, widowed and estranged from his daughter Sarah. But when Sarah asks him to investigate the disappearance of a child prodigy artist Sashi, he sees an opportunity to get back into her life. Although Moe has not worked as a PI for many years and Sashi already been missing for three weeks, he does what he does best: stumble around shaking trees until something falls from them. He finds himself in a world of bitter artists and greedy gallery owners. ( ) Seven years have passed since the brutal murder that tore Moe Prager;s family apart and six years since Moe brushed the dust off his PI license. But when his estranged daughter Sarah comes to him with a request he cannot refuse, Moe takes a deep breath and plunges back into the icy, opaque waters of secrets and lies. Sashi Bluntstone, an eleven-year-old art prodigy and daughter of Sarah's dearest childhood friend, has been abducted. Three weeks into the investigation, the cops have gotten nowhere and the parents have gotten desperate. I got this book free for Kindle, and am glad I did. This is a great mystery/thriller with plenty of twists and complex characters. Although it is the first Moe Praeger novel I have read, it is far from the first in the series. I did feel like I would have gotten more out of it if I'd read the earlier books first, but they were not necessary to understand or appreciate this book. I'm not sure if I'll read more from this series or not. I think I would enjoy them but I just have so many books on my to-read pile right now... I got this book free for Kindle, and am glad I did. At the end when you find out who did what, it's a bit of a surprise. As far as the characters, Moe Prager is kind of interesting. He has a few years on him and more than a little wear and tear, but I like him. I haven't read any of the other books in the series, but this one left me curious enough to check them out. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Sashi Bluntstone, an eleven-year-old art prodigy and daughter of Sarah's dearest childhood friend, has been abducted. As Moe stumbles around the fringes of the New York art scene, he discovers that suspects abound beyond the usual predators and pedophiles, for it is those closest to Sashi in life that have the most to gain from her death.
