If you ever left a book in an airplane seat pocket, it may have ended up here. Unclaimed Baggage is a large retail store and tourist attraction that deals in items recovered from abandoned airline baggage. This includes an eclectic inventory of books, most of them in like-new condition (except for the store's rectangular white price sticker, which can be difficult to remove without taking part of the cover with it). Many books still have boarding-pass or ticket-stub bookmarks. The selection is like a distillation of all the world's airport bookstores, with many books in foreign languages. The store is dolled up with travel-themed displays and posters of unusual items that have passed through since opening day in 1970. The coffee counter sells Starbuck's coffee and Dippin' Dots.

The store was crowded during Alabama spring break. Found reasonably priced books by Dave Eggers, Eric Hobsbawm, J.K. Galbraith, and noticed tons of recent political and business non-fiction. Novels run the gamut from highbrow to pulp romance. They try to keep the shelves organized, but shoppers do a lot of random reshelving.
