This is a great little book about a boy who is growing up and doesn't fit into his old clothes anymore. It is a good way to teach children about growth. ( )

This book is about a boy who notices that he doesn't fit into his old clothes anymore. He lets us know that growing up is okay and that we will get adjusted to our new bodies. I think this is a good book to read to kindergarten - 2nd grade students. ( )

This book was a cute way to address how the human body changes due to growth. I'd use this book to address growth in the classroom. ( )

This book is simply about how a child grows. This is a good book to teach children so that they are aware of the changes and growths they go through. You also see diversity in how some people do and do not grow. ( )

I’M GROWING is a informational picture book that helps kids understand what happens to their bodies as they grow. The book touches on a lot of topics, but none in detail. Students might feel disinterested in the book because it bounces from topic to topic without a real logical flow. The illustrations are colorful and depict many different ethnicities and genders. There are no access features in this book, which makes locating information difficult. It also reads more like a fictional storybook, so it can be more appealing to an emerging reader. The author consulted doctors to make sure the information in this book is accurate. I’M GROWING is a good book for an early reader, but there are other books that a teacher could use as a read-aloud for a unit on the human body. ( )

The little boy is showing how he is growing throughout his life. He shows how his clothes are getting smaller, and his body is getting longer. He shows how all of his features are changing as he is getting older. This will be a nice book for little children to read so they will know how they body changes over time. Also, how everyone has to grow old and they features begin to change over time. ( )

Gr PreK – 2—A “Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Science Book,” Aliki has used a style and structure similar to My Five Senses. The main character is brown, but there are people of other colors around. This book seems to be written for slightly older children. There is more text on each page, the sentences are longer, the vocabulary more sophisticated, and there is less repetition. Aliki has worked in a few lessons: brush your teeth, not everyone grows to regular height (something goes wrong), eat healthy foods, children’s bodies grow inside and out, adults grow thinner or fatter, but all grow older. ( )
