Romek's Lost Youth: The Story of a Boy Survivor is a unique Holocaust memoir. Romek was only 13 years of age when the Nazi Gemans invaded Poland in September 1939. It is a first-hand account of the horrific experiences Romek suffered in the work camps and the concentration camps. He was malnourished, starving, and violently abused. For six years he lived in constant terror, seeing his fellow inmates shot or publicly hanged—fearful of when he would be next. In April 1945 the war came to an end, and Romek was liberated by the U.S. Army. He was finally free. The nightmare was over, but a new odyssey—a new life was about to begin.
