Holocaust survivor - Breve biografia
- Samuel Lipa Tennenbaum was born to a Jewish family in Zloczów, Poland (present-day Ukraine). When Nazi Germany invaded his homeland in World War II, he was a lawyer and businessman. He managed to preserve notes, a diary, documents, and photographs throughout war. In the 1970s, at the urging of his daughter, he assembled these into book form, published in 1986 as The Zloczów Memoir: 1939-1944, A Chronicle of Survival. A sequel called Lekh-Lekha took up the story after he and his family were liberated by the Red Army at the end of the war, and describes their wandering in Ukraine, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Germany in search of a permanent home. Eventually they emigrated to the USA.
