Having been raised, as a young man, on the magnificent novels of Allen Drury, I've been reading political fiction for a very long time. As "the drumbeat of history has quickened," political novels have become more sensationalistic and substantive, but this is a trap into which Kurt Schlichter has not fallen: his work has been less speculative than predictive. He's very good.

But "The Attack" is a whole different breed of cat, and a book that chills the blood. Whereas his other novels have posited what might happen in a few years, "The Attack" explains, in soul-crushing detail, what is happening today, and will almost inevitably happen tomorrow. Or, for that matter, later on today. Reading the headlines, observing the savagery and pure evil that has beset this world in the past few months, "The Attack" might easily be the heartbroken recollections of our neighbors or ourselves in a little while.

A departure for Schlichter, "The Attack"is not written in a narrative style. It comes closer to an epistolary novel, but it is actually the collected stories of a wide variety of average Americans after a monstrous attack on the American heartland, not with missiles or bombs, but with thousands of individual terrorists creating random, unspeakably vile attacks in every state in the nation. Recall what happened in Israel on October 7 2023, and you will have an idea of what "The Attack" describes happening in America.

"The Attack" is not for the squeamish, and will evoke both outrage, nausea, and tears from the reader. But the book is indispensable, because, God forbid, it is all too likely to a vision of tomorrow's headlines.

Good premise, but the book fell short as a thriller. The characters are one-dimensional and the plot is thin, lacking both drama and suspense, with all conflicts resolved by bullets.

No, Col. Schlichter has not crossed over to the dark side and gone liberal, instead he, in this book, gives his opinions about liberals, why they are like they are and shows exactly what he thinks about them and their policies and beliefs (if any). He does it in both copies of his tweets from Twitter and opinions explaining them.

This is a book that if you are a liberal and in some cases a moderate, you will probably hate it as he mocks you and does not do it in a PC way. If you are a conservative, you may agree with him and may have a few laughs while doing it. Either way it is a good book from someone who is a major force on twitter. Plus if what he says is correct, his hot model wife needs a new couch and this will help pay for it. If nothing else do it for her :)… (altro)

Kurt Schlichter is well known and widely followed on Twitter. He post about the follies of liberals and moderates and has real plans for America's enemies; a smoking crater where they use to be. In this book he has compiled many of his posts to show where he stands.

Liberals will hate this book but to them he says fetch his latte and then go.
Moderated will like or hate this book depending on whom they are with at the moment.
Conservatives will love it.

Whichever you are buy this book so he can get his hot model wife a new sofa.… (altro)
