Darcy and Georgiana are finally married, but the honeymoon doesn't last long. After 3 days on a houseboat on the Thames, they decide to return to civilizations. Then, Darcy announcesthat they will be leaving for Kenya for their honeymoon. However, Georgie quickly realizes this is a working holiday. Darcy is supposedly looking for a jewel thief, but other government factors including growing Nazi sympathies and illegal drugs could also be at play.

When Darcy and Georgie are invited to a house party, little do they realize that it will entail drugs and spouse swapping. Making a hasty retreat the next morning, Georgie and Darcy find their path blocked by an idling vehicle belonging Bwana Hartley, a leading figure in the expat community. When they find his partially eaten body, Darcy realizes that there will need to be an investigation.

Georgie and Darcy and drawing closer to their wedding day which is becoming more complicated now that the royals have inserted themselves into the celebration. However, finding a place of their own is proving difficult for Georgie and Darcy with limited funds. Then, Georgie's stepfather, Sir Hubert, lets Georgie know that she will be his heir and can take up residence at Eynsleigh where she grew up when her mother was married to him.

Upon arrival, Georgie finds that all is not well. The servants seem to be using the absence of Sir Hubert to slack off. But, things take a more sinister turn when Georgie discovers a gas tap left on in her room.

In the meantime, Georgie's mother returns to England announcing that Max's father has died, and Max cannot marry her because he needs to care for his mother. With the potential loss of funds, Georgie's mother moves to Eynsleigh with her. One day, they receive a telegram that Georgie's grandfather is at the hospital. Fearing the worst, the two race to London to learn that his bride to be has died. So, again no wedding.

With the worries of cancelled weddings, incompetent staff, and suspicous activity, Georgie enlists her grandfather to come and help her investigate. The two have a near miss in the crypt, but Queenie and mum save them leading to the revelation of a robbery ring operating from Eynsleigh. Will Georgie survive long enough for Darcy to return and her wedding?

Darcy has run off again on some secret mission leaving Georgie in an Irish castle with her future father-in-law who is also grumpy about Zou Zou leaving to fly around the world.

When a letter arrives from Rannoch, Georgie decides to travel to Italy to be with her Belinda before the baby comes. However, the Queen also has a task for Georgie--attend a house party where the Prince and his paramour, Simpson, may be secretly getting married. The house party will be hosted by a former stuffy classmate, but who can say no to the queen?

Traveling alone, Georgie faces challenges. Prince Rudolph is intent on seduction and Belinda isn't in her little house.

Finally settling into the house party, Georgie finds that one of the guests is Prince Rudolph whom she will have to ward off. Another guest is her mother who is trying to find incriminating photos that Rudolph is using to blackmail her. And, of course, Darcy is there undercover.

Georgie also finds herself in the midst of a potential espionage plot involving the Prince who is sympathetic to the Nazis. The murder of Rudolph leads to a murder investigation that could add to everyone's peril. Can Darcy and Georgie solve the crimes, save England, help Belinda, and still find some alone time?… (altro)
