A sumptuous collection of French bookbindings. Most of the illustrations are large and in full color, which is much to be desired in a book of this sort, and very welcome. The authors' introduction puts the movement into context, and short notes on each binder give a useful bit of background on their preferred techniques and materials.

Wow! Double & triple wow! These bindings are absolutely stunning. I wish I could post photos of all of them so you could see the craftsmanship and artistry that went into each and every one.

These are, with a couple of exceptions, leather bindings. The designs range from the very traditional to very modern.
