Carnie life is all Heather and her friends, Miguel and Shiesha know. This is where they grew up living a carefree life, living and working in the carnival world. They are family to each other and have each others backs.. Heather is very loving and takes care of everyone showing them kindness and compassion. Her kindness leads her and her friends to step outside their little bubble and out into the real world after an incident that forces them to leave the only home they have ever known.

Heather looks at the outside world as a fantasy, like going to Disney World, but she soon realizes that real life is not all it is cracked up to be. Here, they are known as freaks and every place they turn offers them another harsh reality. The outside world can be cruel and evil, something Heather, Miguel and Shiesha are not accustomed to. They face many challenges along the way, including a big secret that can change all of their lives forever.

Wow….just wow! Heather’s Turn is such an eye opener. I never thought I would be so impacted from a story like this. It has left me so emotional and saddened by the way people can behave and the way people can look down and treat others so negatively and so cruel. Christina Leigh Pritchard tackles racism in such a way that leaves you speechless. She does not hold anything back and shows the ugliness of narrow minded people that are still relevant in today’s world. You would think that we have grown as a society, but much the same hate for others still goes on today. I just wanted to hug Heather and her friends. They did not grow up to hate people no matter how different they were from each other. They could not understand why they were treated so differently and in a way it forces them to grow up.

The plot is really strong right from the start. Right when you read that first page you are automatically hooked. Good luck trying to put this story down, even for a second (Believe me I know I stayed up till 6AM reading because I could NOT put it down). Christina Leigh Pritchard has a way of drawing you right in with her words that flow so effortlessly through the pages. She weaves such an intricate story that has multiple components that all come together as one. There are many secrets that are revealed that will break your heart and make you cry. You hurt right along with the characters. Underneath it all though, lies a really important lesson and that is forgiveness. It is easier to forgive someone than to carry around hate in your heart.

It takes a story like Heather’s Turn to reaffirm why I read. I love a story that can give me all of the feels, that can make me laugh and yet still make me cry. Yes, this is a story about young teens, but it is a story that everyone should read. It does not matter if you are young or old (like me!). If I could sum up this novel in one word it would be – outstanding. Heather’s Turn is definitely going on my keeper shelf.

"C I N" is the first book in Christina Leigh Pritchard's series introduces a little town called Lynn that has a very strange old saying. I found it very interesting to read about this town and do further research to find out some of the real life stories. I really appreciated author throwing in some little secrets about the town all throughout the book which made it very interesting.



Lisa Brown is a seventeen year old girl who is trying to find herself while going through tough issues that most of the girls in her age do not face. Parents' divorce, losing a house, and being transferred to a new school is not what she had in mind. On top of that she feels like her mother is just trying to get rid of her...



From the very beginning of the book, Lisa seemed like a sweet girl who had some unresolved issues which would be understandable in her situation. However, the deeper I got into the story, I start to see how whiny her character was and it really made me dislike her. There is a moment in the book (trying to hold off the spoilers) where she could see the truth about Alex and how nice he was but she chose to be selfish enough to be blinded by rage which almost caused complications. "Bolts of lightning shot through my fingers and crashed into Alex. He flew across the lobby and crashed into the cafeteria doors. They fell off the hinges and glass littered the floor." Now tell me that's not going a little overboard and being psycho ..



First half of the book was very slow and had a lot of details to over. I was actually doubting when the lighting will happen. However, when lighting did hit Lisa, everything made sense and the slow beginning was very understandable and even necessary. Overall the book was great and I would probably consider continuing with the series. The author included a small preview of the second book in C I N series and it made me look at the story differently.… (altro)

I might've liked this book a lot less had I read it with a different frame of mind. Regardless, I was in mood for something crazy and C I N provided it to me.

I did have a problem with Lisa's character though - her character was not well defined and completely unpredictable, and not necessarily in a good way. Her reactions to things were completely childlike and stupid at times while somehow she turned into a mature thinking person the next. I also couldn't digest the love triangle which in most ways wasn't really a love triangle at all.

I didn't really understand the supernatural part of the book and how Alex's and everyone else's powers worked. The school or non-school the attitude of locals to the "students" there... I was thoroughly confused. Why everyone stopped her from touching Rat the cat also is hard for me to wrap my head around. The frequent moodswings for EVERY character also almost gave me a migraine.

But I did say I liked this book, right?

And yes - I actually did. Had I stopped to think about it and dissected this book I might've dwelled on the flaws and frustrated myself. But I went with the flow - finished the book in a single sitting and actually found myself enjoyed by the epic randomness and craziness of C I N. I read it as if it was a parody of every frustrating YA book that I have read and that made me enjoy this a hell lot more.

I don't think I will be reading the sequel though. The little sample of Alex's head I got at the end was enough to put me off :/

PS. Is it just me or is the attitude of Pig the Dog A LOT like that of Edward from Twilight? 'I love you but I'll not let you touch me because I am dangerous but I will stare at you from distance and stay in your bedroom while you sleep just to ogle you' vibe I got from him was kinda familiar. Only the lullaby was missing. ;)
