UGH, this was not for me. I only read this as it was part of the omnibus and I wasn't aware of reading two separate books. ( )

Confused most of the time. At times I enjoy, or get snippets that are insightful.
Last line ""Here I pause. If you wish to walk no farther with me, reader, I do not blame you. It is no easy road." - I will continue to see where this puzzling set of books takes me. Many of the others that give this series such a high rating state they had the same confusion. ( )

I still don't get the appeal. It's increasingly sunk cost driving me on to understand when the payoff happens, with the ever increasing dread that no such reveal awaits. A flash of future premonition as I kneel in terror beneath a signpost that says "it's not the destination, it's the journey". ( )

Severean loses his sword (again), falls in love with the most beautiful women he's ever seen (again) and still doesn't quite make it to the town of Thrax. ( )

I don’t really understand how someone’s mind came up with this story. It blows my mind how creative Gene must have been. ( )
