This book explains different categories of animals and interesting facts about many different types. In this book, they use real life pictures incorporated with drawings of small people. The reader is given a task at the beginning of the book to see if they can find all the little “brainwaves” in the book. This book is similar to the “I Spy” or “Where’s Waldo?” books. I liked this part of the book because it gives the reader a purpose for reading each page while learning new information about animals. The language chosen for this book was great in my opinion. The vocabulary was challenging and introduces new words that even I was unfamiliar with. Some of the vocabulary words include cnidaria, chrysalis, and larvae. A glossary and index were both provided at the end of the book. This can be helpful to readers who might not understand the words at first and need extra support for understanding these terms. The main idea of this book is to inform readers about different species and habitats found all over the world. ( )
