I didn't enjoy this "Best of the Best" collection as much as some of the individual years that I've read in this series, but overall, it's still a worthwhile read. Basically, the series editors for each of the last ten years picked what they felt were the best 2 essays each year. I tend to gravitate more towards what I call "sexy science," meaning articles that are fascinating but written at a level that a layperson can understand. The essays that I didn't like were those that felt like they were geared more towards readers with an extensive background in science. ( )
