"Free spirit Skyla Plinka has found the love and stability she always wanted in her reliable husband Thomas. Settling into her new family and roles as wife and mother, life in rural Wisconsin is satisfying, but can't seem to quell Skyla's increasing sense of restlessness. Her only reprieve is her growing friendship with neighbor Roxanne who has five kids (and counting) and a life in constant disarray--but also a life filled with laughter and love. Much to the dismay of her intrusive mother-in-law, Audrey, Skyla takes a part-time job at the local bookstore and slowly begins to rediscover her voice, independence, and confidence. Throughout one pivotal year in the life of three very different women, each will learn what it means to love unconditionally."--P.[4] of cover.… (altro)

If half stars were possible, I'd probably be giving this one a
2.5. The characters weren't all that realistic, and the story just disn'seem to flow. I picked this book from amazon's lending library as the first book to read on my new kindle. It was just ok. ( )

Thank you to the author and My Book Tribe (FB) for this book.

Good neighbors don't happen often sometimes but Roxanne and Skyla hit it off immediately when Roxane and Ted and her 4 boys moved in. Roxanne was the opposite of Skyla but they got along famously even though Thomas, Skyla's husband didn't like Roxanne much due to her crazy kids doing all sort of things. Then Audrey, her mother-in-law gets involved in a strange way. Audrey has never liked her since she thought she wasn't good enough for her son, being motherless growing up.

What turns out to be a humorous book page by page it turns into sadness. This book had me crying like crazy for a while until it end ( )

When I come across a writer whose paragraphs flow from one into the other, I get excited. And when the characters jump off the page as someone I recognize,it gets even better. But when the story actually brings me into the same room the characters are in, it is Literary Art. This is one of the best novels I have read this year and I look forward to her next book. ( )

I'd give this, like, 3.75 stars. It was fairly well written, and the story was pretty good. I was shocked to see that it was self-published via Kindle. It was far and away better than any of the books generally found in that category, and many published by the big houses.

Thoughtful and interesting. Quiet. I just wanted a little...more. Not complaining, though, really. On the whole, a better book than anything I've read in a while. ( )

This book was cute but grew serious towards the end. It was sad yet uplifting. It made you think about things in your life and thing around you. Where you stand in relationships. I really enjoyed this book. ( )
