This book is about measurement. The book details the measurement of quantity, distance, weight, size, and time. The book provides a description for what these units of measurement are. Robbins writes about units used in history as well as units used today. I like this book because it contains a lot of interesting units of measurement that I did not know. It also contains supportive pictures and the reasons for the seemingly confusing names of measurements. This book relates to both science and math because accuracy and precision are both very important in those fields. I would read this book to a class to introduce some interesting facts about measurement. I could also read this to give them a perspective about large units of measurements because this book details how small units relate to large units. ( )

On the inside of the dust jacket, the explanation of why we use lb. to abbreviate pound is given. As an adult, I never knew the reason behind it so I was immediately drawn in and couldn't wait to find the answers to more things I did not know!
Not only is this written in an interesting format, with large photographs with large font, but incorporating this text into a math lesson would also be effortless. If it can be measured, it is in this text. Ken Robbins even covers the cubit! ( )

This book includes different types of measurements. However, the book doesn't really have any sustenance. The book doesn't have any characters to have the plot grow. To me, this book doesn't have any of the attributes that math-related children's books should have. The book just lists different definitions for each type of measurement and includes some information about the history of it. This is not a great children's book. It is dry and the children would loose interest fact. I certainly did. I had to force myself to push through the book. ( )

In this book the reader will learn about more precise ways to measure things. The book talks about the origins of certain measure and how they came in I be so the readers get a better sense of the purpose it served back then and today. I think this book is good for readers who are interested in numbers and other math related things. This book isn’t my cup of tea. ( )
