It's Bishop Ryle. Need I say more? Seriously though, if you've read much of what Pastor Ryle has written, you know what I mean. He is one of the most simple, straightforward, encouraging and convicting preachers, teachers, pastors and writers the Lord has ever gifted the church with. His Expository Thoughts on the Gospels, Four Vol Set are worth their weight in gold both for sermon/lesson prep or just personal devotional reading. Bishop Ryle should be a name all Christians are familiar with. Regardless of your background, don't get hung up on his Anglican distinctives. I encourage you to read him often.

A. Know your subject thoroughly
B. Use simple words
C. Use simple composition (write simply)
D. Be direct (avoid 'we' when you mean 'I' and 'you')
E. Use an appropriate amount of anecdotes and illustrations

Very good book. Very instructive, simple and helpful. If you don't have an interest in the book, buy it and give it to your Pastor.
