Summary: Eric, Julie, and Neal go to the secret world of Droon whenever the stairs appear in their basement. Each one of the stories is a new adventure for the kids and In this 3rd book, the kids land on the ship of the princess Keeah, whom they have been helping to find her mother and keep away the evil lord Sparr. They land on a jungle island, get chased by flying lizards, get turned into bugs and rescue the most important jewell. All of this happens before they return back to their home.

Personal Reaction: I am not a big fantasy type of reader but I still thought this was a cute book, and I know it's an easy series to read for kids who are just learning to enjoy reading.

Classroom Extension:
1. I would make the kids write their own "Secrets of Droon" story. Telling me where they would go if the stairs appeared in their basement.
2. I would asks the kids to use their imagination to also write an alternate ending to this story.

The third book in a fantasy series that my son loves, this one we listened to on cd. It took 35 minutes to hear the whole book! That's how short and sweet these books are--all adventure, all fantasy, no character development or discussion-worthy moments--a cheap thrill.

I still think that 4th grade is too old for this, and I suspect that my son is moving out of this series already after this one (more interested in Percy Jackson right now). ( )

Action-packed but the characters are pretty two-dimensional without much personality. Fun story that will keep a kid reading, and probably wanting the next in the series, an easy-to read chapter book.

Another nice installment in a fairly entertaining series. ( )
