After writing half a dozen books on the Snowy Mountains and their people, as well as publishing a number of other books on the area, it was inevitable that Klaus Hueneke's gaze would be drawn south of the border.

This is the first book that attempts to cover the huts of all of the Victorian high country and while a few notable huts are omitted, Hueneke has produced a well written, well researched book. He writes in a pleasant anecdotal style and avoids the dryness of a more academic approach or the haphazardness, errors and inconsistencies of many self published books. Huts in the Victorian Alps is an excellent and entertaining background to the history of the huts of the high country.--© David Sisson
