Good book. I like the idea of the Diet Quality Score and its focus on naturalness and diversity. Portion control is the hardest idea to implement. ( )

Not as thorough on food as fuel as is[b:Base Building for Cyclists: A New Foundation for Endurance and Performance|286254|Base Building for Cyclists A New Foundation for Endurance and Performance|Thomas Chapple|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1173417198s/286254.jpg|277719], but very good. I read mine from the library, and partway through I ordered a print copy for my shelf.

Also includes recipes! :)

Need to follow the advice in this book for a while to truly judge its worth.

A couple of points so far:

- Very easy and quite interesting to read (only took me a week).
- A bit too US-centric.
- Could do with more practical guidelines rather than scientific studies.
- On the theoretical side, a very good explanation how body stores and uses food for energy.
- On the practical side, it doesn't reveal much more than you already know (except in the part where he talks about counting calories in and out). The advice seems to be, eat early, eat often and smaller quantities, eat healthy food. There just saved you 20 bucks :P.

Update: well, it does work just by following the principles laid out here, but it does lack concrete programs to achieve your goals. ( )
