Imagine coming to a new country with someone who tells you to claim she is your mother. After all she did save your life. Imagine you don't really know who you are. Nadia is in Canada with Marusia and Ivan pretending to be their daughter. Her nightmares lead her to believe she is a Nazi. How does she find out the truth? This was a wonderful book. I'd not heard of the Lebensborn children so now I can look for more information on this subject. This is a book I will definitely recommend to my students. I think it should be on our 8th grade reading list. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

After being stolen from her family by the Nazis, Nadia has grown up, literally, in a completely different world. Her memories have always confused her. While living a privileged German childhood, Nadia recalls a woman singing her a lullaby and the taste of gingersnap cookies transports her to a strangely familiar, yet unknown, past. And she continues to be haunted by vivid, terrifying dreams. Slowly she uncovers the truth - that the German family she grew up with are not who they say they are. Piece by piece, Nadia comes to realize who her real family was. But where are they now? What became of them? And what is her real name? Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

This story of a Lebensborn girl--a child kidnapped for her "Aryan looks" by the Nazis in their frenzy to build a master race--reveals one child's fierce determination to uncover her past against incredible odds.
Well-written book which looks at the AFTERMATH of War; the damage is done, the memories suppressed, the guilt at surviving arises. First of two companion novels, Making Bombs for Hitler is the other book. ( )
