It's really too bad that this graphic novel is the only iteration of the Salem Brownstone series. The author clearly has a group of oddly intriguing characters (he can't go wrong with a crew of magic-using circus performers, and Salem Brownstone's haphazard personality is nothing less than charming), and hte artist has some mad talent. The dilemma of Salem's inherited responsibilities as a guardian of one of the Watchtowers is definitely exciting, but what really drew me in was the artwork. Singh's layout style is highly unique among graphic novels, and even though some may find it a bit choppy I immediately connected it with the visual stylings of the film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. It's not a style that works for every story (or every reader), but it works exceptionally well for semi-realistic magical scenarios. ( )

The art is this is astounding !
I could have stared at the drawings for hours, they are so detailed and positively grim.
Sadly the storyline was more air then content...
I did buy this solely because of the cover so in a sense I'm not disappointed because the drawings are gorgeous and worth every penny ! ( )

Beyond strange, did not like. Every graphic novel I've read seems to suffer the same problem where the story doesn't seem developed enough. ( )
