Good Juvenile fiction series (12 Conspiracy books and 2 follow-ups). Would engage young readers into wanting to get to the next one.On New Year's Eve the main character Cal is chased down the street by a staggering, sick man who warns him that 'they' killed his father, they were going to kill him, and that he must survive the next 365 days.... The first one has 15 year-old Callum his days filled with storms, sharks, Parks, the thick weave of sacks covering his face, an angel, a crazy man, a cemetery vault, lifeless bodies, hidden drawings, and clues left by a dead father. He is being chased by good guys and bad guys alike and that is just January. 11 months to go. ( ) This is a quick read with lots of action and suspense. Students will be pulled into the story and will be hooked by the mystery surrounding the Ormond Riddle. Although the plot packs a lot of punch, the writing has much to be desired. It's very basic. What can you expect when the author is cranking out one book a month for 12 months? I suppose this is supposed to by YA, but I disagree. It's a great mystery read for younger kids. My son (11) is enthralled. I just though it was okay. Not believable by a long stretch, but it's the kind of book that makes younger kids' jaws drop. And anything that will keep my 11 year old reading is good in my book! I had to see what this series was all about, as these are by far the hottest books in my library. 365 February had been lost, and I had to reorder it, which has caused some kind of library frenzy (I love it!), so I don't think I'll be able to continue the series just yet, which is fine. This is a terrific series for boys and girls who want adventure and heart-stopping action, and it begins on page 1 (or page 185, as the book counts the pages down rather than up). On December 31st, 15 year-old Callum has a bedraggled stranger overtake him on the street and plead with him to go into hiding for a year, telling him "they" had killed his father (who had died of a mysterious virus some months before), and would soon kill him -- this just before the stranger himself was overtaken and dragged away by more mysterious people. Cal wonders, but doesn't think much of it. But later that night -- on New Years Eve -- the trouble starts. Cal and his uncle nearly drown as their boat is sabotaged, and Cal's life preserver fails. His uncle acts strangely, steals his mail, Cal is kidnapped, framed for the attempted murder of his beloved sister and said uncle, and by January 10th, he is a hunted fugitive. The book ends on January 31st with Cal facing certain death, but as there 12 more books in the series (one for each month of the year, plus a title called "Revenge") I'm hoping our hero will live to see another month. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
