Drawing on extensive interviews with the accused herself, here is the sordid, twisted, and surprising story of Brookey Lee West--a successful technical writer from Silicon Valley who became Las Vegas' most notorious female serial killer. In February, 2001, police uncovered the decomposed remains of Christine Smith bagged like garbage in a Las Vegas storage unit. She'd been dead for years. Next to the makeshift tomb were books on witchcraft and Satanism. It didn't take long for authorities to discover that the owner of the foul Canyon Gate Unit #317 was Christine's own daughter, Brookey Lee West. Further investigation revealed something even more shocking--a one-woman crime spree that spanned two decades, stretched from Nevada to California, and may have counted among its victims Brookey's own husband and brother....… (altro)

In 2001, North Las Vegas police were called to a storage facility, which had been opened by employees because of the terrible smell. When the police discovered the source, a trash bin that had been duct taped shut, they removed the bin to their forensic lab. Inside, they discovered the jellied remains of sixty-five year old Christine Smith, a Texan who had resided in Central California for decades.
Learning that the storage unit belonged to Smith's middle-aged daughter, Brookey Lee West, the detectives began unraveling the history of a remarkably dysfunctional and dangerous family.
The title says this is a Las Vegas story, though very little of it actually took place there, the Smith/West family lives most of the time in Bakersfield and other small central cities. ( )

Finished it last night. I quite liked this book to my surprise.
It kept me enthralled from beginning till the end.

The story of a woman serial killer in Nevada. She practices witchcraft and goes as far as killing her own mother and her Native-American lover. Be prepared to see awful images of her mother stuffed in a trash can. True-Crime book. First and last True Crime book I ever read too graphic for me. ( )
