Read all my reviews on http://urlphantomhive.booklikes.com They suspected her of being a black widow, killing her husband in a car crash. Now she claims she is being stalked. I'm not quite sure about Murder, Madness and Love, even though it provided everything that was advertised in the title. While it had me guessing for quite some time I still felt like something was missing. But maybe it was just that I feel like detective stories are not really what I want to be reading right now. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! **Review written for an originally posted on my blog, Book Bliss.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.** Review:3.5 stars General: Overall I thought this was great first edition from the author into the world of mystery. I have a little trouble reviewing mystery sometimes as I like to give away as little as possible, as everything could be taken as a “clue” from the reader. The mystery in this novel is quite well written and entertaining as well. I would like to add that while it is classified as a mystery there is a romantic interest throughout the novel that while strong, I felt was part of the flaw in the book. It felt a little underdeveloped and overshown. The mystery was great with a true guess until the end which I find harder to find in novels due to my knack for spotting clues early on. The writing was wonderful and I am interested to see what will occur from this author after this, as her period writing seems like it would be pretty wonderful to read as well. The main element in this novel that dragged my review of it down was character element (which includes the love story that needs a touch more work) that interfered in the plot. You must love characters to truly enjoy a novel and I felt that most interactions from about midway through the novel till the end were a little hard to connect with to confusing. Characters: Sarah: Sarah’s character is quite wonderful in terms of personality traits. She spends much of the book shy/weak and still reeling from her husbands death. However as the novel progresses she has little trouble stepping up from the weak place and making herself a stronger lead. However, her emotions ricochetted far to frequently for me as a reader to be able to identify with her from about 2/3 of the way in. Steven: I liked Steven, didn’t love him the way I feel you should love a man when he is set as the romantic hero though. He is an alpha male, but his emotions conflict a bit with that of the alpha male most like to read in the role of lead male. He was a bit callous at times and for a me, a little to slow at putting things together. Also, his attitude towards Sarah in the book made it quite difficult to feel anything completely like enjoyment towards him. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

A killer plays cat and mouse with a young widow against the snowy backdrop of an Alaskan winter. Branded a black widow after the suspicious death of her millionaire husband, Sarah Palmer flees Seattle for Anchorage. But the peace and quiet she hoped to enjoy in her hometown is soon shattered: The killer is murdering Sarah look-alikes on the fourteenth of each month, taunting Sarah with a valentine of evidence. After her experiences in Seattle, Sarah is slow to go to the police. When she finally does, she finds Detective Steven Quaid, who is called on to protect the beautiful widow from a stalker intent on her destruction. Steven is not entirely sure she is not behind the scheme herself, and before long Sarah has him wound up tighter than barbed wire. Is Sarah a victim or a very skilled manipulator? With a killer on the loose and a climbing body count, Steven can't afford to hedge his bets-or his life. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |

On moving back to Alaska the killings start, but the police have no motives.
I didn't take to the character of Sarah at all, added by her doing stupid actions which seemed to put her at a greater risk, and not be helpful in the murder inquiries. For me too much emphasis on the romance aspect of the various characters rather than a mystery/crime story. ( )
