The first few poems are interesting, and very good - odd viewpoints on heaven. I particularly liked the one by the tired housewife, whose idea of Heaven was never having to do the same thing over again (washing, cooking, cleaning...). I got echoes of Kipling and Twain in the styles. But after the first book, it was basically all lost-love poems, ranging from "I hope you die" to "oh if only they were with me again...". Over and over and... I even got tired of the garden imagery. The only interesting part was that some of the poems were clearly written to a man, and some to a woman (and a few to children - those were mostly "I'm so sorry you're dead"). The language was nicely handled, and any _one_ poem was decent to good, but it was like being smothered in marshmallows. Overall, ugh. ( ) nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

HTML: Edith Nesbit was one of the most prolific and beloved children's authors of her time, but she also had a more literary bent, as evinced in The Rainbow and the Rose, one of several of the collections of poetry she penned in her lifetime. This compendium of verse tackles topics ranging from the quotidian to the profound in a traditional rhyming style that will please poetry purists. .Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
