Suspense

After reading Sarah's Key, I was disappointed with this book. It just didn't grip me the same way. It was a decent read, but I do not know if I will recommend it. ( )

After reading Sarah's Key I knew I had to read more of Tatiana de Rosnay's work. Though I liked this book I wasn't as moved by it as I was Sarah's Key. I can understand why the secret of their mother's lesbian affair was kept secret I think the it was wrong to keep their mother's death (where she actually died) a secret. ( )

Very enjoyable, fast read. Would recommend. ( )

Truly started to enjoy the book with the author's description of the road being washed away each day with the tide, the letters the mother wrote to her lover, the tragedy of the car accident and the resulting way it affected people. Also OK was reading a man's perspective of divorcing, its effect on his relationships with his kids and now ex-wife, and the brother/sister against the rest of the family. As Antoine explores the mystery surrounding his mother's death, the built up was good but then the ending just became ... . Did like the biker girlfriend all the way especially the final ride to the island. ( )
