A hilarious early chapter book about the adventures of Down Girl and her neighbor dog Sit. It's hard work ridding the yard of birds, squirrels and the new cat Here Kitty Kitty, not to mention looking out for her owner Rrruff, a man who appears to be at the mercy of his spirited dog. Down Girl tries to maintain a semblance of cool in crucial situations (whining, begging) but darn that irrepressible wagging tail of hers! Smarter Than Squirrels is a funny story that anyone who has ever owned a dog can relate to. Because it is written from the dogs point of view the prose is simple, but works perfectly as one can imagine this is exactly how a dog would speak if they could. The pictures that accompany the text work nicely as aids for younger readers to follow along with the story. It would work nicely as a lead in to discuss how different points of view can be used in story telling. Down Girl and Sit are playful dogs that rule their neighborhood. They think they are the smartest dogs around but unintentionally cause a lot of trouble. Through Down Girl's eyes, her master is a really silly guy. The book explains the world though her view, and she spends most of her days chasing squirrels and eating donuts not meant for her. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
