Ginnette abandoned Melanie then for reasons that are finally revealed. She has retuned because of a premonition that Melanie is in danger. This story continues the debut novel in the series. It was interesting to read about the whole family, and how they reconnect after so many years. Hurt feelings are dealt with, and the present threat must be overcome. It’s quite a story, well written with interesting characters, including the ghosts. The interaction between Jack and Melanie needs some work and clarification. Readers are left wondering exactly where their on again off again relationship will end up. Melanie Middleton is continuing to work on renovations to the historic home on Tradd Street that she inherited and her complicated relationship with Jack Trenholm. Melanie is no longer haunted by spirits who once inhabited her new home, she is about to be haunted by a ghost from her past: her mother. After being removed from her life for 30 years, Ginette Prioleu Middleton has returned to Charleston and wants to begin renewing a relationship with her daughter...if Melanie will even let her in the door! Ginette desires to purchase her family home on Legare Street and asks Melanie to help her buy it. While hesitant, Melanie agrees to help her mother purchase the house so that she can then be out of her life. If only life were that simple. While mother and daughter work our their estranged relationship, another haunting visitor from the past comes calling and puts them both in danger. Ginette and Melanie must put aside their differences and use their psychic similarities to help solve this mystery and prevent another tragedy. This book picks right up where The House on Tradd Street left off. It was just as fast paced and had all the great twists and turns. Onwards to the next book in the series! The Strangers on Montagu Street. This is the second in a series. I read the first one years ago and then added this one to my TBR list but just never got around to reading it until now. I liked the first one and I have a hard time resisting books set in Charleston, South Carolina. It's one of my favorite cities. As with the first one, this is a bit of a mix of genres. It's part historical fiction, part almost romance, part mystery, and a touch of paranormal with a main character who can see ghosts. I enjoyed the parts about Charleston's history and the mystery was interesting even though most readers will figure things out before the characters in the book do. The main character, Melanie, is one of those characters that I occasionally want to slap for being stupid or stubborn, or unnecessarily rude. Granted, she's got a lot going on in her life with the mother she hasn't seen in 33 years back in town, but nevertheless she kind of bugged me more than she didn't in this book. All in all there was more that I liked in this book than what I didn't like but I'm still not sure I'll continue with the series. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

I really don't like Rebecca
Jack kinda pisses me off esp how he acts with Rebecca ugh.... ESP when he kisses Melanie but sleeps with Rebecca...that's so not cool
I am also annoyed with Melanie and how she avoids her attraction to Jack.
That's besides the point of I figured out the mystery pretty early on and just had to wait for all the drama to unfold.
I do like how Melanie is coming to grips with her gift/curse.
But also annoyed with her father and his reaction not her and her mother talking about it... Like come on dude.... ( )
