Newly minted First Daughter Liberty is enthusiastically exploring the White House, her new home, and giving all visitors a warm welcome. But can her secret agent man SAM and chief of staff Miss Crumm keep up with her antics? Liberty is wildly exuberant, reflecting the excitement of living in such a famous place. Kids will pick up on this exciting fantasy and learn a few fun facts about real First Children that Liberty shares with her new friends throughout the story. ( ) First, I have to say that this is the first book I have read by this author. For the age I teach I believe they will find most of it immature. However, I can think of one or two students who are still immature enough to like it. Libby’s father has just become President and she sees this as an adventure that she must live up to. She is definitely not dull. At times I felt she was too over the top. Once you accept the fact that this was written more for the fourth grader than the sixth through eighth grader I teach it wasn’t such a bad book. I just don’t think my students will buy in to it. Why is third-grader Liberty Porter so excited? Well, because her dad was just elected President of the United States, making her First Daughter! You'd be excited, too. Liberty can't wait to see her new room in the White House, learn what her secret service code name will be, and get started on the most important project of her life - being a great First Daughter! The writing was okay and there's not much of a story, but this will please young girls (and boys) who are fascinated with Sasha and Malia or any of the other children of the White House. DeVillers manages to squeeze in more facts about the White House than you can shake a stick at, but it feels mostly organic and kids will find it interesting. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
