CGX9G48F Offers a brief history of the Goths, the Huns, the Vikings, and the Mongols and chronicles how each group of “barbarians” used power and warfare to change the course of civilization. e wonderful color illustrations highlight various aspects (belief systems, family life, written language, and artifacts) of each group. Barbarians! Is an informative book. It teaches the reader about each of the four groups of barbarians. The barbarians were mostly from the European areas. A barbarian is described as anyone rude, crude, and uncivilized. Although the barbarians are labeled in such a harsh way, they changed the world for the better. They marched across Europe and Asia and introduced new ideas through trade and conquest. The setting plays a role because without the barbarians marching across Europe and Asia and sharing new ideas the world would be a very different place than what it is right now. The photos fit each page and have small facts about little objects on each page, I really like that aspect of it. this is a brief history and cultural overview of four so called barbarian groups. This is a nice history lesson about these groups you only breifly learn about in your history classes. They talked about some of the leaders and they interactions with the Romans and greeks. The art is well done and goes well with the text. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

"Kroll introduces four notable groups referred to by their enemies as barbarians: the Goths, the Huns, the Vikings, and the Mongols. In each case, he looks at the lives of common people within the group, their religious beliefs, their leaders, their history, and the results of their attacks on other civilizations"--Amazon.com.
