A mixed bag of short stories and excerpts from works in progress. Some I enjoyed, some I read but didn't pay too much attention to. (

The second the the series of short story books by Oxfam to highlight their work in certain areas, and air is climate change.

Again some of the stories did not appeal, but the three i particular liked were: Goodnight children, Everywhere by Beryl Bainbridge, The Night Highway by Louise Welsh and Suddenly Dr Cox by DBC Pierre (

The 'Air' collection of the four Ox-Tales books doesn't inspire me to pick up the other three; of the nine featured stories, only three were in any way gripping - Beryl Bainbridge's Goodnight Children, Everywhere, DBC Pierre's Suddenly Dr. Cox and Kamila Shamsie's The Desert Torso (which was quite lovely and thought-provoking). The quality of these three stories made this collection worth reading, but I was disappointed with the inclusion of 'novel excerpts' as short stories from a couple of the authors, and some very bland writing from the others. (

None of these short stories (and a couple of extracts from novels in progress) inspired, although the Louise Welsh extract may make me go and have a look at her novels. For me,the DBC Pierre short story was most enjoyable.
The collection is for a very worthy cause, Oxfam. (
