I really did want to like this but honestly it fell flat for me.
The premise sounded good, a secret society that have roots in the Templars and with Arthurian legacies. Fighting demons and saving the world but it has a price and Billi isn't sure she wants to pay it.
It won't be a series I will be following any further. ( )

it was an ok book. not great, but not bad either ( )

I'll definitely rec this to teens, but something about it just didn't resonate with me. I think, maybe, my issue was the frenetic pace of all the action. There's not a lot of downtime in this book, and I wanted some slower spots to really flesh out Billi's world a bit more. Also, the character I most loved ended up with a sword through the chest by the end of the book. BOO!

That said, there's some deliciously gory imagery, lots of cool action and fight scenes, and a very strong and realistic female hero. The nearest parallel I can think of would be Buffy. Good supernatural action read, if that's your thing. ( )

Dunque... dalle prime pagine mi aspettavo altro, anche se non saprei dirvi il motivo. Ho passato circa 300 pagine ad odiare poi amare poi odiare di nuovo quasi tutti i personaggi. Che volete farci, cambiano atteggiamento di continuo!
Per quanto riguarda la mia opinione complessiva... non dico che è noioso o scritto male, semplicemente nulla di particolarmente sconvolgente o innovativo. Insomma, se volete leggervi qualcosa di davvero bello su angeli, diavoli e compagnia bella sceglietevi senza esitare la saga di Shadowhunters!
Però l'idea di utilizzare il mito dei Templari è buona, non ho assolutamente nulla in contrario a riguardo, anche perchè mi hanno sempre affascinata. Però manca un qualcosa che non saprei bene individuare che renda l'intero libro "speciale".
Ok, nel finale ho pianto due lacrimucce di numero, ma non sono riuscita ad affezionarmi ai personaggi come mi è capitato con altri libri della stessa lunghezza. E' un peccato, perchè le basi erano buone e la lettura scorrevole, dunque sarebbe potuto diventare un ottimo libro.
La mia frase preferita? "La paura è alla base della fede."

I was really excited to read Devil's Kiss--in fact I went to the library with the expressed purpose of getting the book. There were a few things that intrigued me about this book:

1)The Knights of Templar -- I had yet to read a book about this fascinating group
2)Billi herself -- she seemed like a kick-ass and strong female lead
3)The apocalyptic plot -- need I say more?
4)The cover looked pretty sweet

Unfortunately, Devil's Kiss didn't do much for me. Overall, I felt like the book was depressing. Billi wasn't as awesome as I had hoped she would be personality wise--she too was depressing--but she was just as kick-ass I thought she would be. That was one thing the book did well--the action. The plot was suspenseful (albeit predictable at times) but I found I didn't care for the other characters enough to get really into it. The romance options for Billi didn't make me sway to one side or another and the other knights were gruff but not in a real loveable way. I didn't end this book saying "that was AMAZING" more like "it was alright".

OVERALL: I think there are better novels out there that have the kick-ass heroines but the blend of the Knights of Templar and a female knight make this series unique.
