Another example of a great collection of traditional tales, specifically originating from Australia's Aboriginal tribes. Through these stories, we learn how the kangaroo got her pouch, why frogs croak, and how the crocodile got its scales. Readers are also provided with a brief history about who the Aboriginal people were and a glossary defining many words originating from Australia. We are also given a page decorated with Aboriginal symbols and art. ( ) The reader will get a vast understanding of the various types of Australian animals, their characteristics, and where they live. Most importantly it explains death, and how hibernation promotes new life with insects, specifically butterflies, being the primary example. It explains that when an animal dies it will come back in a different form. The artwork is well done, and represents traditional aboriginal artwork. Ancient tales from the aboriginal people of Australia. Based heavily in nature and animals, rights of passage and lots of hunting. I think the artwork is pretty and definitely looks to be traditional. I like to use examples of folklore and mythology to show how easily a group of people can believe silly (no insult meant) stories blindly, without evidence. And how you can see example of the very same now days. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
