Nick Horrigan is hiding from his past, which includes a dark secret involving his involvement in his Secret Service stepfather's death. He is dragged into a political cover-up of a mother and infant daughter's murder, and will not let it go until the perpetrator is brought to justice. I was bothered by an early event, which was left unexplained until page 300 and once explained, the ending became clear. ( )

Nice conspiracy theory story. I'm not a big believer on conspiracy theories though so it seemed a bit far fetched most of the time but entertaining never-the-less. Also, this happens to be the second book in row that deals with shady politicians and the Secret Service (Redemption Road by John Hart being the other), so I probably am just a little tired of that storyline too.

I'm a fan of Hurwitz and going back to some of his earlier stuff. He definitely has evolved and improved as time went on. I'm not going to stop until I've read all his novels. The comic books: just not my thing. ( )

Fast paced thriller that takes off like a rocket and does not slow down for one second. There are lots of twists and turns to the plot. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. I found some of the plot points a bit hard to believe but none diminished my enjoyment. The ending is particularly satisfying. I listened to the audio version and I can't recommend the narrator highly enough. Patrick Lawlor is excellent. ( )

Did not finish. Decline to rate.

Giving up on this one. Gregg's writing is spot on, as per usual, but the story just isn't my thing. I was expecting a terrorist/hostage situation book and wound up with a political thriller. Oh well, moving on.

This book wasn't as thrilling or mysterious as the blurb implied, but it was still an enjoyable read. The juxtaposition of past and present kept me from getting bored and, though the culprit was fairly predictable, the author still managed to keep some tension to the story. Worth reading. ( )
