Chika Shiomi serves up another spirit busting series with the Yurara take off, Rasetsu. When we left off with Yurara, Yako was thrown over by the beautiful spirit when her human host matured into a self sufficiant ghost talker, necessitating her departure. This series picks up with Yako years later as a bookstore employee who calls upon an exorcist agency to get rid of angry spirits haunting a book. The 18 year old head exorcist is Rasetsu, who bears a resemblance to Yurara and sets Yako completely on edge.

I did enjoy this pick up as I felt really bad for Yako at the end of the preceding series, despite his antagonistic attitude. I am just hoping that we don't wind up with another love triangle subplot as I had gotten a bit sick of the last one near the end. As with her other work, Shiomi's drawings are well balanced with easy to follow panels and a nice mix of detailed and static backgrounds. The storyline is interesting and very different from Yurara which is nice. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all progresses. ( )
