This story started out OK, but somewhere along the line I felt the romance between Maggie, Phillip, & Jonathan became sappy. The relationship started to feel forced and it was difficult for me to finish as I wasn't able to care about them. ( )

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous. It was just okay. I'm able to go along with all the things that have to be basically ignored from reality to enjoy these books but I have to say that I've already found the fact that this is yet another instance of one man is titled & landed so he must wed and the other man has no such ties so they can embark on this menage marriage with one woman. Do all these guys pair up this way? From the dinner party Phillip, Jonathan and Maggire attend is pretty well populated. Did the tent assignments when the men were all at war determine that one titled and one not shall share? It's book two and I already think this device is overused. I'm hoping for a reprieve in the next books (when I get to them).

I wasn't the biggest fan of the Phillip and more so Jonathan basically hearing Maggie tell them that she couldn't go full on with what they wanted to do and they basically brushed that aside with a "she just needs to be convinced". It seemed disrespectful of her and as if they felt she didn't know her own mind. I know the story turns that she goes with it but I didn't like the idea that the men felt they needed to coerce her slowly around to their way of thinking. It put me right off. I also did a bit of eye-rolling at another happenstance of the guys never having had their love for one another manifest itself until they could get the woman and apparently can't be consummated without her either. That's probably the one thing I find most odd with the series so far.

On the upside, the sex scenes are still very well done and that is a welcome thing. I just wanted more of a story and characters that I could enjoy. As it stands I really don't need to see Phil, Jon or Mags in another story in the series. ( )

I have read a little over half of this series over the years. Since there are four books I haven't read I thought I would sit down and re-read the earlier books. I will warn all of you now that these books contain M/M elements in them. The stories are about a triad it is a M/M/F triad not a M/F/M triad. So for those of you that don't like these books they are definitely not for you. Ms. Kane is a wonderful writer that is capable of telling enthralling stories. Her main and secondary characters are lovable, vulnerable, funny and in many cases tortured by the horrors of war and the dictates of society. These books are set in the Regency era of England just after the Peninsula War. The stories revolve around the men that fought in that war and the women that they come to love.

This story is Phillip, Jonathan and Maggie. There is a returning villain that show what a crazy and unpredictable person he really can be. I love the evolution of this story. How Phillip finally initiates Maggie into the Dominant/submissive relationship that he has always wanted. Maggie takes to the new demands like a fish to water. On the path to discovering the path of pleasure that Phillip can give her she comes to understand that Phillip needs Jonathan as much as he needs Maggie. What follows is lots of really steamy sex and loving tenderness. This is a fairly quick read that would be perfect for a weekend spent laying in the sun or enjoying the great outdoors. I highly recommend this series.

This is the next book in this series and definitely not the last one. I will warn all those reading this that the story is m/m/f. I know that there are those that don’t enjoy m/m romances so I want to be up front with all of you. I don’t read many of these types of romance either but Ms. Kane writes such a good story that I have never thought of them as that type of story.

We briefly met Jonathan Overton and Phillip Neville and Maggie Trueheart in THE COURAGE TO LOVE. Phillip and Jonathan were wooing Ms. Truheart at the time. This story picks up three months after the marriage of Phillip and Maggie. Phillip has been trying to meet a nice normal husband to Maggie and it is just not working. Enter Jonathan and his advice to take Maggie the way the Phillip has longed to since that first night. Maggie becomes an eager student to Phillip's domination. She is slower to except the two men as her lovers in fact she is more willing to see them loving each other than taking them both at the same time.

Phillip is the dominant of this group. I am sure that Jonathan will be dominant over Maggie's submissive nature most of the time but in the arena of loving making Jonathan defers to Phillip. Phillip is also the more emotionally well balanced of the three in the beginning. It is very enjoyable to watch Maggie's confidence bloom under Phillip’s tutelage. He is patient and understanding and very caring of Maggie. He also loves her very much. While Phillip has family, mostly distant relatives, he wants nothing to do with the scheming that is so much a part of the family. Phillip has made the family that he wants and he is very happy when they all come together as a core unit.

Jonathan is an orphan and has been Phillip's best friend since they met in school as boys. The pair has been inseparable since that first meeting. These two have fought together and loved together for the length of their service in the Napoleonic Wars. The one thing that I felt really bad about is that Jonathan has a secret that is tearing him apart and when Maggie is attack by Robertson, the villain from, THE COURAGE TO LOVE, he blames himself for the attack. Jonathan is a strong, capable person he just needs to be shown that he is lovable and is deserving of love. Luckily Maggie and Phillip are up to the task.

We get to see more of the rest of this company and we learn that they are all looking for a woman to help them settle into the lives that they dream of. There are a few rough characters but I am sure some clever and loving woman will rub down those rough spots very quickly. I also realized that there are some new books out in this series. It is so hard to keep track of who is releasing books and when. Well that is just more wonderful books to read as I get through the series.

Ms. Kane writes a wonderful story with lovable characters and steamy hot sex. I think this series is perfect the very cold weather we are having that this time. These characters will warm your heart with the love and caring they all feel toward each other and the woman that have joined the group so far. These are historical romances and this story has a strong domination and submissive tone to it. There is spanking, Maggie and Jonathan, anal sex as well as a little bondage. I think that most of the people that read my reviews will enjoy these books. ( )

"Love Under Siege" by Samantha Kane is a historical erotic menage story. Interesting to see how the author uses historical events to provide a purpose for the menage relationship. Also interesting in that the males are not lovers until after the menage relationship is established. A different take on the normal menage stories and very, very hot!! ( )
