A great book for emerging middle school readers, or even high schoolers. I enjoyed it very much, mainly for the plot. ( )

What an amazing series! I honestly enjoyed each and every word the author used in each of the seven stories.

I love the characters in this series; they were each well-developed and had unique characteristics that made them each special. Each story is narrated by a different "shadow child," so you got to see how their parents had different ways of upbringing them and how they were differently from each other and how this impacted them. Each of the seven books ends with a cliffhanger, encouraging the reader to read the next story (this writing technique definitely worked for me!). These stories are REALLY suspenseful! My only critique is that each of these books are so short! I think I just wanted more of them! Since there are 7 of them, it's awfully expensive to buy all of them. Other than that, these were amazing books and I highly recommend them to children's dystopian fans (cue the Hunger Games music!). ( )

Imagine hidding away from everyone you love or care about, Imagine breaking the law just because of your existance. Well if your looking for a book about a younge boy who wants to fight for his and many other peoples freedoms then you found the book. This book is about a younge boy that lives at a time when a great famines attacked causing the government to come up with the population police. The population police is a system that gets rid of all illegal third children. These books has everything a good book requires it has suspence, drama, love, friendship, betrayal, death, and freedom.
I would reccomend these books because they are easy to read but have lots of adventure, strategys how to look at life from a diffrent perspective and while reading these books i could not get away from them. These books take you in on the adventure not to be forgotten they tell you a story of someone who want to live just like me and you but is kept hidden from the punishment of death even knowing this he does not give up and finds away to fight for what he thinks is right. Along the way making friends that are not to be forgotten. This book thought me that no matter what situation your in if you fight and dont give up you can with stand it. ( )

this was an o.k. book. it is a very sad book. a little boy has to be kept a secret. his mom had more kids then allowed to. then a family moves in next door. they also have an extra kid which is called a shadow kid. he gos over their house one day because he sees something moving inside their house. then he finds her. she tells her parents about him and then she asks him if he wants to join the march for freedom. he doesn't know i if he wants to. then when they go something gos down. then her dad hid him. when he comes back after the march thing. then he doesn't get found. but you'll have to read to book to find out for youself. ( )
