This movie is one of my favourite stories of all time, but I felt that the book distillation is a bit of a let down. I noticed early on that the text is organized rather oddly around the set-in images, sometimes starting lower down on the page than where the eye lands and carrying sentences over the page, which leads to occasional confusion. I think that the story would have been much more successfully represented if wer had seen full-page images with a maximum of one set-in image and a sentence or two per page. Simplicity is just better sometimes, because it can distill the stoy down into a more solid narrative. ( )

6. Personal Response: We got this book when my son became obsessed with the movie Totoro. It tells the entire story of the movie with pictures of every major and many minor events in the movie.
7. Connections: This book has a great deal of dialogue and would be perfect as a model for writing grammatically correct dialogue with accompanying illustrations. (A bit like a story board or comic) ( )
