Even a heaven-sent love can be hot as hell... Sweet Fortune Everyone thought Jessie Benedict's impending marriage to Sam Hatchard was a great arrangement -- everyone, that is, but Jessie herself. Was she the only one who could see that Hatchard, her powerful father's protege, had a scheming ulterior motive in marrying her? He was more than just a chip off the old workaholic's block -- he was positively lusting after Jessie's inheritance to build his own business empire Free-spirited Jessie has plans for her own career as a detective -- starting with the rescue of a teenage girl from a dangerous cult. But when a break-in and an intimidating act of vandalism strike close to home, her investigation pairs her with the compellingly masculine entrepreneur. Hatch does make her heart beat deliciously fast, but she's not taking orders from any man. Imagine her surprise when he turns out to be not only a friend and ally, but a strong, tender lover who, in the end, knows how to seal a deal -- with her resounding I do… (altro)

The heroine is a free-spirit with an extensive employment history, currently working for a psychic. The hero is the CEO of her father's business, who her entire family wants her to marry. The mystery is who pushed the psychic down the stairs, and what is the connection to an ecological cult.

Jesse had a mind of her own and though Hatch wanted her love and was a work aholic himself, he couldn't help love her free spirit and domesticity. Her father wanted her to mold her life into his way of thinking and she wouldn't have it. She got a job with a psycich and rescued a girl from a dangerous cult. Lost her job because the owner thought all was too risky. She eventually started her own business and married Hatch. ( )

great story; love the family dynamic and the engaging characters; one of her earlier books that focus on romance than the suspence; will read again ( )

Jessie Benedict was the caregiver for her family, the person who made sure that the patriarch, her father, Vincent, did what was needed of him. Everyone used her for this. She also had a serious problem with holding down a job. Her latest job has her working for a psychic, when the psychic falls and a mother looks for help to rescue her daughter from the grips of a cult, Jessie can't help but rush in.

Sam Hatchard was her father's protege, heir to the business throne. Jessie didn't want it but no-one wanted it to pass from family hands so a plan to get them together was hatched.

Jessie is afraid that all Sam wants from her is the business, while she wants love and a husband who won't put business over her like her father did with his two wives.

Choppy and predictable this is an okay read but nothing spectacular. ( )
