Seven-year-old Dahlia dies in a freak accident (not a spoiler-it has already happened when the book begins), and the story is about how her parents Rick and Naomi deal with their grief and how the decisions they make from that grieving place have far-reaching effects on many others. Would have given it a higher rating, but it does slow down a bit about two-thirds of the way through the book. ( )
