Has a few surprising twists, and gives, I think, a fairly accurate portrayal of the times. It wasn't a fantastic book, but not horrible either. I think how much you like it would depend upon how much you like reading stories about the era that are relatively simplistic. ( ) "Among the thousands who opened their eyes to the morning, to the fog, to the summons of the bells, were six folk of varying stations in life who would foot it that day to Bartholemew Fair. All but one got back that night." -- dust jacket. The six are Queen Elizabeth herself, a prosperous merchant, two young students, and two impoverished children. For the little girl Merrycat, drudge in the palace vegetable kitchen, just having seen the fair is a life-changing event. But others find more profound changes in their lives. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
