I would have preferred more of the book to actually take place in the North & South - more Reconstruction than westward expansion and conflict with the Native Americans. It also felt like Jakes lost the whole Hazard/Main thread for most of the novel, and it was just about Charlie. I didn't like that Madeline's story was told via journal - I thought that was too easy, and that Jakes was summarizing her story rather than actually telling it. It did make me realize that maybe I enjoyed the second book more than I thought. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
