This one was a hodge-podge collection, as the title implies, and it wasn't all that long, but it was fun to go through. I definitely adore Ms. Austen's style. ( )

This short collection contains some early epistolary works by Jane Austen. None of them is long enough to really constitute an entire narrative with the traditional beginning, middle, and end, so they read more like writing exercises than stories. Some seem like they could be early first drafts for scenes in her later works. It's an interesting glimpse at the author's progression as a writer, particularly for long-time Austen fans who have read her other works. ( )
