What is really a promotional exercise for the artists and galleries listed, this book in none the less interesting. Following the very brief introduction each artist is allocated a double page spread. On the right is a full page reproduction of the artist’s work, and on the facing page a very brief biography along with one or two more examples of work.

Featuring sixty New Zealand artists, many of whom have not exhibited beyond their own locality, it offers a wide range of exciting work. The artists range in age from twenty four years to over eighty; the work encompasses a variety of two-dimensional media. The work is almost all representational based, and has been produced between 1995 and 2001. Perhaps its real value is that it provides and good picture of what is bring accomplished today. ( )
