Well written and fast moving. This story has a supernatural element in that the little girl, Maddie, sees a woman who sits on the edge of her bed and promises her an angel will come to take care of her. No one else can see this woman. This naturally freaks her widowed father, Royal, out but, at his daughter's insistence, he ends up picking up a hitchhiker whose name is Angel Rojas. This freaks Royal out even more.

The supernatural element was well done, not one of those where you're rolling your eyes with disbelief. The emotions seem real and the HEA is believable. The bad guy is creepy and believably written. I really enjoyed it. ( )

This one's back to good writing - not as rushed as Roman's Heart. There's an awful lot of coincidences that lead to the events of the story - the bad guy is ridiculously lucky. And when did Maddie ever hesitate to say _anything_ to her dad - until her silence was necessary to set up a dramatic climax? The whole thing with the ghost/angel/Maddie seeing visions thing is a little awkward, too. But overall it's a good story. I am amused that Ryder and Roman married heiresses and Royal...didn't. And for that matter, Roman's and Royal's secret angst are a little too similar. But still. Angel is great, and the way she talks back to Royal is perfect - just what he needs. I like Maddie, too - very accurately a self-absorbed four-year-old. Good characterization. The plot was a little over-complicated - the inclusion of the bad guy wasn't really necessary, there would have been a story just fine without him (if Angel had been convinced otherwise to get into the car to start with). Pretty good. ( )
