The title and cover would suggest that this would read like a manual. But no, this book reads like a little charming novel with personable characters and a well constructed plot. The author seems to be following the teachings of Jesus in His use of parables. The main theme is servant leadership. "In this book we invite students of leadership from all faiths, cultures, and experiences to take another look at the leadership genius of Jesus…" Most management books tend to overwhelm the reader with a multitude of facts and figures which are not easy to recall under pressure. But Ken Blanchard has found the answer: he tells stories. Vivid, memorable and clear for the manager who really wants to learn. Leadership by the Book draws on Jesus' teachings as a source of practical help in effective leadership. Recounting the story of a teacher, a minister and a marketplace leader who support each other in their leadership challenges, this extraordinary book offers unexpected and exceptional solutions to tough leadership problems.
