As rough as this book was, I think it’s my favorite of the series. I loved Elle and Jackson’s bond and their backstory, and how that tied into the aftermath of her captivity. I never guessed Jackson would be my favorite love interest of the series, but he definitely is. His tenderness with Elle was incredibly moving, and it was a nice touch to see how he was quietly looking out for his neighbors, despite his loner reputation. Trigger warning for this one—there’s rape and torture, and the first several chapters are hard to take. I couldn’t believe Feehan let one of her characters go through so much, but maybe I shouldn’t have been surprised after what happened to Hannah in her book. So if it will hurt to read something like that, don’t. Or skip to the rescue and start there, because the rescue is awesome, as is the wedding at the end. The themes of family loyalty and love were strong in this one, with all the sisters and their men back in Sea Haven, doing whatever they could to help Elle heal. It was great to have them all together so much, and see how the men have become brothers and allies to each other as well as to their sisters-in-law. It looks like I could continue on in Sea Haven for a while longer, as apparently Ilya’s brothers each show up in a different series. I think I need a break from all the hot sex and heavy emotion for a while—not to mention Russian mobsters—so Sisters of the Heart will have to wait. It’s good to know Feehan and her million books will be there when I need her again. This book was the best in the series. It was very intense. I had a very difficult time reading about her kidnapping and torture. I wasn't sure how the author was ever going to get her healed enough mentally to have a happy ever after. She managed to do it in a fairly believable way though using the magical/psychic bound between Elle and Jackson. His strength and love was a bulwark and healing force for her. It was great to see all the sisters and their men together and everything wrapped up. Good series. First off, this is the first book I have read by this author and wouldn't you know...I picked the last one of a series. Elle and Jackson are an odd couple. She's got this awesome psychic power and he's a former POW who is trying to find how to heal his scarred and tortured soul. Elle found him while he was imprisoned and the connection was made. Turns out he is her legacy. The partner to the seventh daughter of the seventh daughter. Now Elle has run away to find her new destiny since Jackson doesn't want to take part in the legacy. Or so she thinks. Talk about miscommunication and stubbornness. Jackson rescues Elle for a mad psychic who wields power none of the Drake sisters even had a hint existed. She's been put through her own torture and punishment. Will she ever be whole? Now Jackson's affection, is it true or just a knee jerk reaction to what she has suffered and how she helped him survive his torture. Now the sister's getting together and trying to heal Elle with their individual powers was interesting. To read about them sitting around having tea and eating cookies all while using psychic powers to pour the tea and bake the cookies....that was fun! The men of the sister's are an usual pack of men too. Some seem to have a bit of the psychic power to them too. Wish I could have had a bit more of each of their personalities, maybe if I go back and read the other books in the series I'll get my wish. Big issue for me is the villain. Stavros, how did he become so powerful? What of his brother the biker who likes to "break and train" the women they kidnap and sell? Did he just disappear from the face of the Earth? I didn't need an in-depth expose about Stavros but a little something as to why he's as warped as he is would have been appreciated. (Once again, maybe he was mentioned in another book and I missed it)And his eventual demise...rather simplistic considering he was this great psychic power house, don't you think he might have had an inkling something was going on and would have taken different action? Don't know just too convenient for my tastes. All in all a good read. Interesting. Love the animals; both the land loving and the sea faring types. May go back and read the others in the series, just not as excited as I thought I would be to have a new series to get caught up in.
