Summary: It is about a boy who imagines he is a superhero in space, and has to come back to earth. It uses shapes to overcome space obstacles on his journey home. Personal Reaction: Love that it is written as a comic. Classroom Extension: Use it to teach shapes. Use it to teach elements of space. Have students draw their own space comics. Captain Invincible and his dog, Comet, are making their journey back to Earth. They are challenged with obstacles as they make their way. They defeat these obstacles with the use of their space shapes. The book has a cute story. This book really captures the imagination of young children. I like the dog’s sassy attitude to his master in certain scenes of the book. Extension Ideas 1. Use tangible objects as visual aids when teaching the class 3-dimensional shapes. 2. Divide the class into 2-3 people per group. Have the groups find 3-dimensional shapes throughout the class and place them in the correct labeled station with that shape’s name. The team who works the fastest and most accurate, will win the activity. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Personal Reaction: I loved reading this story. It was about the boy's imagination, and growing up with a vivid imagination, this story appeals to me.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
A. A good classroom idea would be to outline and cut out these shapes. This could go with a shape unit.
B. Another idea would be to have an item and identify the shapes. Then cut out the shapes and puzzle them back together.
