Based on a folk tale passed down through generations, this is a story about self-esteem. The mice look for the most powerful being in the world to protect their baby daughter only to find out it is themselves. The illustrations are simple and full of humor. ( ) Genre: Fantasy Fiction Age Appropriateness: Primary Media: Watercolor and pencil Review/Critique: Mouse, who believed she was very weak, was determined to marry a strong man! So she went on an adventure to find her new mate. She first talked to sun who sent her to cloud, but cloud sent her to wind who sent her to house. Once she reached house the house told her there was a creature that was so strong because he was going to eat away at the house and the house was going to crumble. Mouse called out to this creature, all to find out that the creature who was the strongest of all was a mouse! This is good fantasy fiction because the characters are mice with human characteristics. The author also uses personification for the house, cloud, wind, and sun. The story talks about marriage, a topic that most children understand. A little house mouse is tired of feeling inferior so goes on a quest to find the biggest, strongest husband around. One potential husband after another sends her to another possible match, until she realizes that the perfect mate is right back where she started. Charming text and illustrations make this book feel like a classic. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
