This book is an example of realistic fiction because the reader can easily put themselves into the main characters shoes. The characters and setting are both realistic. The plot may be a little exagerated, but the reader can still identify with it. The story could happen today. The story is in the form of a mystery.
Characterization: the author's characters are easy to relate to. The author describes both the good and bad characteristics of each person in the story. This makes them more believable. For example, the author tells us that David is messy and has a hard time staying neat and tidy.
