Lindsay is not sure how she feels about a new baby joining her family. While her mom is pregnant she spends a lot of time with her, and she still thinks she doesn't want a new baby. When the baby sister comes, Lindsay thinks she is dumb. All she does is cry and sleep. Lindsay's parents explain that this is a new baby, but that she will always be their first baby. This makes her feel better, and she starts to adjust to the new baby.

The book could be used to talk about how everyone has to adjust to change and use Lindsay as an example. Lindsay didn't want to accept that her mother was going to have a new baby and poked fun at the baby in her mothers stomach. Until, she realizes that she once was a baby also and then she accepts her. It is full of sight words and would help develop phonemic awareness. ( )
